I finally broke down and bought a POTJ Sand Person to finish this one. The design is a fairly common
one; I know Darren Osborne at Master and Apprentice Customs and Ron Baumhardt at Wicked
Force! have both done one similar to this, and there are probably many others. I cut off Qui-Gon's
hair and added a big glob of sculpey for his new haircut. Quin has this massive dreadlock look that
just lent itself to Sculpey so well (I had a lot of trouble keeping the dreads attached though). I also
trimmed down his beard some before sculpting. His skin I painted a mix of the light skin tone and tan
to give it a slightly darker hue. The facial designs are yellow, and I used a black drybrushing to give
him a 5-o'clock shadow. The ties around his braid are tan. I did his inner shirt and wrist-wraps
navy blue-gray; his mid-tunic, side skirts, and boots a mix of brown and red (a little more on the
reddish side); his pants tan; and his outer tunic, main skirt, sleeves, and cloak brown. I also had to
repaint the fingers flesh tone. Quin's lightsaber looks similar enough to Qui-Gon's that the latter's
does the job just fine. |
